F1000 recommendation

22/12/2012

Jonathan's Cochrane Review article on Sound Therapy or masking devices for tinnitus has just been recommended by the F1000 organisation as one of the top published articles in biology and medicine.

Tinnitus is a sound that you can hear but nobody else can. It can take many forms  - buzzing, hissing or whooshing for example. The best way to manage it is to try and ignore it but this is often easier said than done. Referral to an ENT lets us do a hearing test to see if you could benefit from hearing aids as well as referring you for tinnitus retraining therapy or masking devices which can effectively 'drown out' the noise of the tinnitus.
